I guess it's just a Seattle kinda night. Also late to the punch, Nudes Sister Cassette released right before our Dehumanized Nudes tour. Man was that a fucking blast. This tape rages the whole way through, pretty much enough said,. I also really appreciate how every song flows into the next. Below is also some footage from the Nudes Dehumanized tour kick off show. Fuck yeah.
It's pretty outdated at this point which is why I prefaced "New" song tape. But hey, cut me some slack I'm really lazy and have a lot of stuff to go through. At this point this tape is at least a year old and was limited to seven copies so I'm sure many haven't heard it. The tape is two Vagrant tracks that were new at the time but with Riley singing instead of Joe of Grimace who now fronts Vagrant. Riley now sings for COP ROT which I'll put up a bit later. The next two tracks are two "new" Grimace songs that turned up on the Mustard Gas and Roses EP. The tracks are "Old New" and "Cool" which yes, are the names I know them by. I think only Malcolm knows the real titles. As an added bonus I included lyrics to "Mustard Gas" so have at it!

Here it is, the post you've all been waiting for. Grimace's much anticipated 5 song tape release. In short, these songs are incredible. We cranked them all out two nights ago in Seattle thanks to James of Outlook fame coming up and recording us with a busted arm. A huge bag of trash donuts was the fuel needed to generate these jammers. I learned a new song for it a few minutes before recording. The songs are raw as hell and Malcolm's vocals are killing it. Departing to give the boot to California in a week.
Hunting Party played with White Wards at the Voyeur and that's the first place I saw them, also where I picked up this tape. The live performance had me hooked and I like Sean and Max a lot so I was stoked to check out their new band. Was not disappointed with this release I just wish it had more songs! Raging and wild, sounds like driving, heavy midwest hardcore. Fucking great drumming throughout, I'm very partial to a lot of the riffage and am particularly attached to the last two tracks. The first of which starts off blisteringly fast then slows to a dirge for perfect transition for the last jammer. Good stuff.

The sophomore release from Olympia's own Crude Thought and considerably better in my opinion, than the first demo. The whole thing rages throughout all the way up to Body where I usually rewind because I have a super short attention span. "It Could Be You" and "Dear America" are easily my favorite songs by the band and fittingly, open up the tape. Two re-recorded demo tracks lead into "Flowers" which is also a track I enjoy quite a bit on the release. The riff almost gives me a Siouxsie and the Banshees feel. There are obvious elements of grunge riffage and some post-punk stylistic choices that make this release unique to the ever-changing Olympia hardcore scene. One more area of the spectrum Olympia seizes and dominates. Recorded live at Phantom City Records. I remember Stevie and Brynn being bummed on some of the weird effects at the beginning and end but I think they're sweet, haha, enjoy.
Woof, this has taken me way too long to put up but here is Crude Thought's demo. A "new" Olympia band at the time I was going to put this up, they have since toured the west coast with Hysterics, released a new tape and have played both years of New Direction Fest. Crude Thought just wrote a shitload of new songs and has a whole new set, I believe the new tracks are going to be on a 7" put out by M'lady records. Ben of Nuts Fanzine fame, Anton of Phantom City Records fame, Stevie of Red & Black, In Debt, Looking Up, Outlook, etc. etc. godfather of OURSOUND and my roommate fame, and Brynn also of my roommate fame make up this new quadruple threat.
It's been a minute and for that I apologize but here's the scoop:
New Direction Fest 2012 was amazing and there are tons of videos posted up on OURSOUND for your viewing pleasure.
There was a show last night that went quite well, new band COP ROT featuring members of Grimace, Nudes and Vagrant killed it at their first show, DICK BINGE (recordings coming soon) was amazing as always and DEHUMANIZED solo rocked the house down.
ADJUSTMENT tour went amazing with some serious van issues more to be written about later download the new tape.
GRIMACE just recorded a new 5 song tape the night before last and it is fucking amazing. The 7" is also on its way.
DEHUMANIZED will be recording two new releases with hopes of having them in October
ADJUSTMENT is hoping to have a 7" by winter and is currently writing
GAG is soon to release 2 7"s
SPIRITUAL WARRIORS broke up
HYSTERICS and GRIMACE are leaving for tour from August 21st to September 6th so look for them in your area, HYSTERICS is gonna keep moving through the states so get ready for them to hit your town.
That's all I can think of for now, hoping to be a little less lazy over here. I have some demos that have come in the mail to review and some stuff that's been sitting forever.
