Night Prowler - Crime Wave CS

nighprowler

Mark Palm from Go It Alone's solo project. He now plays in Devotion. This was a band he did when he was living in California and is the only release. The project is definitely more of a straight forward 80s hardcore style band than his other projects. Last time I saw him was when ATSX played Vancouver and he commented on my Youth Korps shirt and told me they were his favorite early 80s band. This tape has more of a Boston sound but with a contemporary tinge. The tape is damn good. The track "Control" always gets stuck in my head and I think it's my favorite on the release. The tape ends with a 3 minute reverb laden track ala DYS, Youth Brigade, The Fix, Negative FX, any other sick 80s band that did a weird song on their otherwise straightforward 7" or demo. Also rips off that catchy thing F.U.'s always did in their songs where they repeat a line or word over and over with stops; see "No More" and compare it to "Radio Unix USA" Really good stuff, download it!

Break Through - Demo 2003 CS

Youth Crew style hardcore from North Carolina. I'm pretty sure there was some band member overlap with the First Step. I'm not positive but they're from the same state and it's definitely a TFS Crew production. Aside from this tape I have no other knowledge of the band. Short and sweet.

Go It Alone - Hollywood North Demo CS

Go It Alone's first release. This band got some pretty heavy recognition later and along with their Vancouver contemporaries Blue Monday, were my favorite band from the area at the time. The demo tape has four songs later released on Vancouver Gold (my favorite release by the band for sure, which I think I posted a few months ago), one song later re-released on their LP, and three tracks exclusive to the tape; two are mid tempo jammers and one is a short almost ballad. Enjoy it while you can still find it. Stoked on how often I got to see this band play, it's a bummer they called it quits when they did.

Deconditioned - Overpopulation Begins and Ends With You

Here's a little piece of Olympia history for you. It's all a blur to me now as memories blend but the last time I remember seeing Deconditioned I believe Dan and Ian Bracken got naked. Deconditioned was noisy, thrashy hardcore punk from Olympia WA that existed through the early 2000s. Dan now plays in Opt Out and Mckenzie went on to play in Sixes with me. I'll put up more music of theirs later but for now, here is this.
